- When did name come into being: In 1748 the Ohio co. formed to settle Ohio and in 1803 Ohio became a State

- What main nationality 1st populated State? Did nationality of population affect State name: The Iroquois Indians were the first population and then European settlers from Germany, Ireland, Africa, Scotland, England, Sweden, Holland and France. The name came from the Iroquois Indians and the settlers had no affect.
- Was State named after someone? If so them and why they inspired the name: No. The name was taken from Ohio River.
- Who was involved in naming State: The Iroquois Indians called it Ohio.
